Of the great Renaissance poets, Luís de Camões was by far the most travelled. Born in Portugal in 1524/25, he spent 19 years in north and east Africa, the Persian Gulf, Portuguese India and Macau, and it was there that much of his greatest poetry was written.
To my knowledge no one has previously attempted to render the complete poems in accessible English verse, and I am very pleased to announce that my attempt to do so has been picked up by Princeton University Press.
